What is Physiatry?

Physiatry is a medical specialty that focuses on rehabilitation and improving the quality of life.

What conditions do physiatrists treat?

It depends! Some physiatrists specialize on strokes and brain injuries, others focus on spinal cord injuries and related complications. Family Physiatry primarily treats musculoskeletal disorders.

What can I expect during my visit at Family Physiatry?

You can expect to be heard. We will do everything in our power to help you, and if we can’t, then we’ll make the necessary referrals.

What types of treatments do you offer at Family Physiatry?

We offer medicinal and procedural options for managing different painful conditions. We also make referrals to physical therapy and other specialties.

Do I need a referral for Family Physiatry?

A referral is preferred and strongly recommended.

Are physiatrist treatments covered under insurance?

Yes, a majority of our treatments are covered and we obtain appropriate authorizations from insurance companies. If something is not covered, you will be notified before we proceed with the treatment.

Do you treat sports-related injuries?

Yes, we do.

What does a new patient need when visiting the office for the first time?

Make sure you bring a form of ID and your insurance documents. First time patients are asked to come at least 30 minutes before their scheduled appointment time to fill out an intake questionnaire.
